At 64, I took on a VO₂ Max treadmill test at the University of Worcester to help research alternative ways to measure referee performance. Strapped in, fan blasting, treadmill cranked — it’s all about pushing limits safely and scientifically.
Most referee fitness testing uses the Bronco test, but it doesn’t reflect real match activity. This VO₂ Max session gives insight into heart rate patterns, endurance, and intensity levels during games.
