Описание: The Renaissance Open Mic was established in order to reunite the community of Soul and R&B singers, poets and spoken word artists and encourage a resurgence that is much needed in the Philadelphia arts & entertainment scene. With the memory and love of Black Lily in mind, we wanted to create something new with our open mic without trying to mimic Black Lily or any other open mics in the city. From the location at the Waterview Lounge, ideas began to form regarding the open mic and exactly what we were trying to do. Although untitled, there was a feeling of wanting to bring focus and respect back to "The Singer", "The Poet", and "The Spoken Word Artist" which have been seemingly pushed to the sidelines in recent years. Something seemed lost in the City of Philadelphia, known for its many contributions to the music industry yet at the same time something was stirring.
