Though they lived on the same farm, Henny was always cautious around Bruno.

“He’s a dog, and dogs chase hens!” she would cluck to the other birds.

Bruno, however, never had any intention of harming Henny. He often watched her with gentle eyes and even wagged his tail when she passed by. But Henny would always scurry away.

One day, a sly fox sneaked into the farm under the cover of darkness. The fox had been watching Henny for days and finally saw his chance. As Henny pecked near the tall grass, the fox jumped out and grabbed her!

“Help! Help!” Henny squawked in terror.

Bruno, napping near the barn, heard her cries and jumped to his feet. Without a second thought, he ran as fast as he could and barked furiously. The fox, startled and scared, dropped Henny and ran off into the woods.

Henny sat there shaking, her feathers all fluffed up. Bruno gently walked over and nudged her.

“Are you okay?” he asked softly.

Henny looked up at him with tears in her eyes. “I… I misjudged you. I thought you would harm me, but you saved my life.”

Bruno gave a warm bark. “I’ve always been your friend, even when you didn’t know it.”

From that day on, Henny and Bruno became the best of friends. Henny no longer ran away, and Bruno always looked out for her. They spent their days together, showing the other animals what true friendship looked like.

Moral of the Story:
Don’t judge others based on fear or assumptions. True friends may come in unexpected forms, and trust is built through actions, not appearances.
