Croatia's membership of the European Union will get the go-ahead at a summit in Brussels tomorrow. The country is expected to become the 28th member of the EU on 1st July 2013. This week also sees twentieth anniversary of the decision, by the Croatian parliament, to declare independence from what was then the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, on 25th June 1991. In the four years of war that followed, more than a hundred thousand people were killed -- most of them in neighbouring Bosnia-Herzegovina which declared independence the following year. Allan Little reported the war for the BBC and has been back to Croatia...
