Burnside St. run east to west (or west to east) over the Willamette River and has a pretty colorful variety of things to do. West Burn has the famous Powell's Books, comedy venues, pizza, pizza and pizza.
Also, Burnside is the southern border to Portland's Pearl District where people like to overpay per squarefoot, parking and utilities but can enjoy the 10 x 10 blocks of the "heart" of Portland. All joking aside, this is the place where you want to live if over on the west side.
Burnside east is home to Burnside Skatepark under the bridge and is the darling of East Burnside.
