Gadget, Penny and Brain travel to an exotic spa resort to investigate the disappearance of famed movie star, Tag Shrapnel, who's been kidnapped by Claw and Talon to star in MAD's newest recruitment video. // When Gadget comes down with the flu, it's up to Penny and Brain to track down MAD's newest agent on their own, a mysterious super villain who always seems to be one step ahead of them.

Dr. Claw is once again embarrassed in front of the world when Gadget foils a plot by the MADgician, another of Claw’s henchmen. Claw chalks this up to bad luck, and sends Talon to New Orleans to steal the Cursin’ Crutch, which allows its owner to inflict bad luck on others. Quimby sends the gang to stop MAD from acquiring the crutch—a valuable artifact in and of itself. While Gadget decides he needs to pick up more lucky charms in order to complete the mission, Penny doesn’t believe in luck, only skill. Her belief is put to the test when the mysterious Baron Mercredi beats both Penny and Talon to the crutch, and unleashes a string of bad luck on both of them. Penny and Talon chase after the Baron and the crutch, as the Baron sets his sights on Gadget and ruining his luck forever. The Baron almost has Gadget in his clutches when Gadget launches himself and Penny and Talon into the Baron, knocking off his mask and revealing his true identity: the MADgician! In the chaos, Talon gets the crutch and curses the MADgician, but before he can turn it on Penny, she and Brain outmaneuver him, and Penny destroys the crutch for good! // Dr. Claw creates a Mood MADifyer, which uses moonbeams to make its victims hallucinate their darkest fears. Elsewhere in the city, the Gadget gang are on a nice evening walk, but Penny can’t enjoy it since she’s afraid taking a night off from training will mean she never becomes a full agent. Gadget encourages her to stop and smell the roses. Quimby interrupts them to send them on their mission: stop MAD from turning Metro City mad! Gadget, misunderstanding, thinks the device will turn citizens into MAD Agents, his own worst fear! Penny heads off to find out who’s controlling the fear beam. As Gadget tries to appeal to the citizens of Metro City, he accidentally deflects the fear beam to Brain, simulating Brain’s biggest fear: an evil, creepy Gadget. The tables are turned as Gadget chases Brain through the city to keep him safe. Meanwhile, Penny finds Talon controlling the lunacy beam, but before she can take the remote, he hits her with the beam! Penny’s faced with crippling fear of failure, but when she remembers Gadget’s advice to take a moment to think, she realizes the fear is only in her mind. She shoves Talon into the beam instead, and when he sees his worst fear—himself, bald—he runs off in terror. Meanwhile Gadget, in his pursuit of Brain, bumps into the MADifyer’s lens, destroying it and making Metro City safe once again!
