“It’s 8 years today since I lost my leg, and honestly, what a journey it’s been. I still remember those early days, the shock, the pain, the confusion. The world felt so small back then, like everything I’d known had been ripped away overnight. I didn’t just lose a limb — I lost who I thought I was.

There were days I didn’t want to get out of bed. Days where I couldn’t stand to look at myself in the mirror. The mental battle was harder than any surgery or scar. I went from feeling unstoppable to feeling invisible. I pushed people away, I hid, and for a long time I just didn’t see a future for myself.

But somewhere along the way, things started to shift. Slowly, painfully, but surely. I began to rebuild, not just my body, but my mind. I learned that strength isn’t about never falling; it’s about standing back up, again and again, even when you don’t want to.

And now, looking back, I can hardly believe how far I’ve come. From those dark moments of suicidal thoughts to creating my own rehabilitation camp for amputees. From being terrified of being seen to climbing mountains — literal mountains — like Kilimanjaro. I used to think losing my leg was the end of everything, but it turned out to be the beginning of the life I was meant to live.

Yes, I lost my leg. Yes, it was hard — harder than I can ever really put into words. But I gained something too. Perspective. Purpose. And a new kind of freedom.
