Описание: There's a lot of confusion surrounding the term Velocity Based Training and even the name might not be that accurate to reflect what velocity based training actually is.

Velocity based training simply uses velocity as an objective marker of performance, fatigue or even readiness in gym-based exercises such as the squat, bench press or dead lift.

There's a bit of a misconception that VBT is all about lifting light weights fast, but that's not necessarily the case. For team sport athletes, such as footballers, cricketers, basketball players, soccer players, VBT does have practical applications both during the preseason and in-season phases. Given the COVID-19 interruptions to semi-elite and amateur level sports it's important we can prepare as well as possible for a big preseason and season 2022 coming up.

VBT can be used to help improve your preseason and in-season program to improve your performance during competition. But how can a team sport athlete use velocity based training effectively in their training program?

Instead of speculating about VBT, we thought we'd get an expert in to explain VBT with us (and also talk about their brilliant new app).

Jacob Tober, a strength and conditioning coach and sport scientist was gracious enough to come on the DeakHeads podcast to talk all things Velocity based training (VBT).

Jacob is the head of research and education at Metric, a revolutionary velocity based training app. Metric enables lifters and coaches to accurately track velocity, range of motion and power using just their smartphone camera.

Jacob has also worked as a strength and conditioning coach at Core Advantage Athletic Development since 2013.
