Samsung is not just integrating AI into its devices, but also bringing the technology into its factories. The company plans to build AI-driven factories across its global production network by 2030. This will allow AI to help manage everything from inbound materials logistics and production to quality checks and shipping.
Samsung will integrate AI and robotics across its manufacturing operations
Samsung said the initiative will help create a next-generation autonomous production environment. The company will use digital twin-based simulations and specialized AI agents throughout its manufacturing processes. As a result, it will be able to improve operational efficiency, product quality, and productivity in its sites.
Samsung also plans to integrate AI into Environmental, Health, and Safety operations. The AI monitoring systems will let the company detect potential risks early and prevent workplace accidents. This will further improve safety standards across its production buildings around the world.
Furthermore, Agentic AI will play a key role in Samsung’s AI-driven factory ambitions. This AI solution is capable of planning tasks and optimizing decisions automatically to achieve specific goals. The technology builds on the AI capabilities it has been offering in its mobile devices, including the latest Galaxy S26 series.
Samsung will also introduce humanoid and task-specialized robotics in its manufacturing lines. The company plans to deploy Operating Robots to help with production line operations and facility management. Likewise, Logistics Robots will manage the movement of materials, while Assembly Robots will carry out precision manufacturing tasks. Meanwhile, the firm will use digital twin-integrated Environmental Safety Robots in areas where human access is limited or hazardous.
“The next phase of manufacturing innovation lies in building autonomous environments where AI truly understands operational contexts in real time and independently executes optimal decisions,” said YoungSoo Lee, Executive Vice President and Head of Global Technology Research at Samsung Electronics. “We are committed to leading the transformation toward AI-powered global manufacturing innovation.”
