Surviving India’s dangerous Railway slum (got stuck 😰)

Imagine living beside a railway track, without a wall or boundary.
With trains passing at 100 km/hr.

My team spent days in Mayapuri, Delhi, a slum between Asia's largest scrap market and active railway lines, home to 2.5 lakh people.

What we found there broke my heart.

-A man lost two fingers in the scrap yard. Still shows up to work. Because rent doesn't wait.
-Drinking water pipes run through open sewage pipes. Residents strain the insects out and drink it anyway.
-The public toilets serving 1,300 families have no water and no locks.
-Children as young as 10 are using drugs, not by choice, but because of their condition.

My team sat with them, talked to people living there, about their dreams and ambitions to leave, to take their families out, and to pull others out too.

This is the condition of Delhi, the capital of India. Would you be able to spend even a day here?
