Today was powerful. We continued in our Homecoming series, learning the perspective of the older son, the one who never left home.
Jesus uses this parable to hold a mirror to the Pharisees, who were still viewing salvation through the lens of hard work. They hardened their hearts toward lost sheep and found no value in rejoicing with those who accept Jesus and His Gospel.
Aren’t we like that, too? We’ve been steady, firm, consistent, and the praise falls on those who have freshly come Home. We should REJOICE! The Gospel is ALIVE!
May we start viewing people as souls, souls in need of connection and salvation. People are not a battle to be won, but an opportunity for deep, lasting connection.
