Khalid ibn al-Walid, known as "Sayf Allah" (The Sword of Allah), was an Arab Muslim commander who served the Prophet Muhammad and the early caliphs Abu Bakr and Umar. Born into the Quraysh tribe’s Banu Makhzum clan in Mecca, Khalid was a skilled horseman, swordsman, and tactician, renowned for his unmatched battlefield strategies.
Khalid is credited with over 100 battles without a single defeat, including duels, skirmishes, and major campaigns. His victories spanned the Ridda Wars (632–633 CE), which unified Arabia, and the early Muslim conquests of Sasanian Iraq (633–634 CE) and Byzantine Syria (634–638 CE). His most famous triumph was the Battle of Yarmouk (636 CE), where he led a Muslim army to a decisive victory against a much larger Byzantine force, securing the Levant and reshaping the geopolitical landscape.
