Live music met hip hop theatre as this awe-inspiring collaboration saw a big band performance with a specially commissioned score by Jason Yarde performed to by artists representing highlights of Breakin’ Convention’s long illustrious history.

An incredible ensemble of 15 leading jazz musicians to collaborating and celebrating the 15th anniversary of both Breakin’ Convention and jazz re:freshed.

ABOUT JAZZ RE:FRESHED
Jazz re:freshed is a multifaceted music arts organisation at the forefront of the UK Jazz revolution worldwide. Jazz re:freshed is raising the profile of, and demonstrating the breadth of expression within U.K. Jazz and Jazz influenced music and challenging the preconceptions that has kept jazz on the side lines far too long. In 2003, Jazz re:freshed created a weekly residency for musicians in the jazz world who wanted to experiment and push boundaries when few opportunities to try these experimentations out live were available. These musicians inspired a lot of the cream of today’s UK Jazz scene who have also graced the stages of Jazz re:freshed’s events. Jazz re:freshed support emerging and established artists and use our multiple platforms to communicate various aspects of the culture associated to the music to an increasingly diverse audience.

ABOUT RED 1 ARTS
Red 1 Arts is a new music development organisation and music producer that provides stronger development pathways and visible platforms for emerging and mid-level artists and delivers unique live music experiences for audiences. Founded in 2017 by cultural entrepreneur and established music professional Victor Redwood-Sawyerr, the company delivers activity through four activity strands; artist development, live events, consultancy and advocacy. These strands enable Red 1 Arts to engage with and support arts companies and practitioners that currently range from artists such as Ayanna Witter-Johnson and Matshidiso to venues such as The Roundhouse and The Albany.
Red 1 Arts is a strong voice for the sector, engaging creative industry bodies, government agencies and public funders to highlight the value that music provides and lobby for further support. We also serve as a trusted filter, signposting peers to new opportunities within the arts and funding sector.
