Straight from the SA launch of the all new 4th Generation of the X-Trail held in the Western Cape, take a look at the new model.

Bigger, bolder, and improved in virtually every aspect the new model offers space for up to 7 passengers in comfort. The interior fittings feel premium to the touch and the top Accenta Plus model features all the required creature comforts. More importantly, NIM (Nissan Intelligent Mobility) comes as standard on all models.

The safety suite includes Autonomous Emergency Braking (EAB) lane assist, blind-spot warning, cross-traffic warning and all the features that you want and expect to keep your family safer on the roads. A heads-up display features on the top model too.

The new model is powered by the familiar 2.5l 4 cylinder petrol engine and CVT transmission with All-Wheel drive and mode selection for terrain needs. The engine has been uprated to now provide 125kW and 244Nm. This certainly felt sprightly on the roads down at the coast, with plenty in reserve for cruising and overtaking when needed. The CVT has been massively improved and you would be hard pressed to realise that it's a CVT and not a "normal" automatic transmission at work here.

The launch event was centered around adventure as Nissan market the X-Trail as appealing to the adventure lifestyle. From a downhill scooter ride through the Franschhoek vineyards to a visit to the IkHoki San village on the West Coast. Good roads to experience the car in comfort, some adventure and a bit of local culture, culminating in a gourmet lunch cooked by a celebrity chef.
