After successive generations of glorious 6-cylinder engines, some enthusiasts may lament more recent versions of the BMW 5 Series making do with 2.0-litre inline-4s, but that actually brings the 5 Series back to its roots.
The very first 5 Series, the E12, was available initially only with 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engines, with 6-cylinder powerplants entering the line-up only much later.
No hello or good bye in this video, spoke this as I was recording a review video of the BMW 530i (G30).
