The benefits of using an attorney in front of an administrative law judge is that that attorney will understand the rules that apply to that proceeding. There are various rules that allow you due process, and the ability to question and cross examine or present evidence. And if you're not familiar with those rules, you may not actually have a hearing on the merits of you defense or your case, because you may be procedurally barred from the administrative judge never hearing the evidence. So it's pretty important I think that you hire an attorney to represent you, in order to eval yourself of a fair hearing.
