Skin whitening/lightening is a big thing and of course there are issues about it, but it does not stop people from doing it, so let's see how to do it safely and effectively. α and β-arbutin are touted as safe options but in reality, they are not and down the line they turn into cytotoxic quinones. As such, α and β-arbutin both turn into Hydroquinone, α-arbutin slower than β-arbutin, because, α-arbutin is more stable, but it's Hydroquinone that does the job of lightening the skin, however, it gets oxidised by Tyrosinase and turns into cytotoxic quinones, not really what you desire, but, there is an alternative to α and β-arbutin and that's what we talk about in this video here on how to moisturise your skin while also lightening the skin as well, without Hydroquinone, α and β-arbutin.

As said, there are issues with whitening or lightening the skin, just look at the word "whitening" which is often used to describe these products. I don't think these products should be used to "fit in" but rather to even out the skin tone, but I'm aware that it's easy for me to say and that reality for a lot of people around the world is very different, so hopefully this video here can be a safe alternative to what can be very dangerous products.
