Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
Hello everyone, on this occasion, I will tell you guys a story, a story about a hero, a story about a great figure. He is Kusno Sosrodihardjo, or better known as Soekarno. and I will tell you everything that you need to know about him. so that you can get an idea of how important this person is, to the country of Indonesia. My name’s Moreno Ibrahim. So without further ado, let’s start the story…
Sukarno, he was Born in Blitar, East Java, on Jun 10, 1901, He was named Kusno Sosrodihardjo but his parents later renamed him Soekarno after he survived a serious illness. Soekarno was born in the morning, and there was a myth in Indonesia that, if a child was born when the sun was rising, he would be predicted to become a big figure in his time. Many people called him Son of the Sun. Stories about his childhood are known that he had a great attitude to communicate with other people.
Growing as a talented boy, Soekarno continued his study at HBS in Surabaya. Then he went to the Institute of Technology in Bandung in the Civil Department. He spent only 3 years finishing his studies. He was not only a smart student but also active in the Movement Party called PNI/Partai Nasional Indonesia. The Dutch colonial secret police soon learned of the PNI movement party, Sukarno and the other members were arrested in 1929 because of his activity in Indonesia Pro-Independence Movement. When he was released, he became a popular hero. He was arrested several times during the 1930’s and was put in jail when Japan occupied the archipelago in 1942.
In February 1942, the Imperial Japanese Army invaded the Dutch East Indies, the colonial Dutch quickly surrendered to the Japanese. The Dutch sent Sukarno to Padang, Sumatra, intending to send him again to Australia as a prisoner, but had to leave him in order to save themselves from the Japanese forces.
When Japan came to Indonesia, He was still active in the Movement Party. On November 10, 1943 Soekarno became the leader of BPUPKI that was supported by Japan. The Japanese Commander, recruited Sukarno to lead Indonesia under Japan’s rule. Sukarno was happy to collaborate with them at first, however, the Japanese started to employ millions of Indonesian, mostly Javanese, as forced labor. Sukarno didn’t like how the Japanese treated the Indonesians, and he started to rethink his decision to collaborate with Japan.
Sukarno's young supporters urged him to immediately declare independence, but he feared retribution from the Japanese troops still present. On August 16, the impatient youth leaders kidnapped Sukarno and then convinced him to declare independence the following day. Finally, on August 17, 1945 Indonesia declared Independence day, and he became the first President of Indonesia.
He passed away in 1970 and was buried in Blitar, East Java. Indonesian people were full of sadness. Although he is gone, his spirit is still alive and influences many people until now.
And That will be it for my short Story about the first president of Indonesia, Ir. Soekarno. And I hope you enjoyed the story. I thank you very much for watching, Wassalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh.
