There are multiple benefits to being multilingual, multiliterate, and multicultural in today’s global society. Knowing more than one language from birth, acquiring a new language through school, or learning languages later in life can provide tangible advantages in many areas. In this session you will learn how tribal communities are building resilience through the cognitive, educational, sociocultural, and economic benefits of bilingualism. The session will also highlight Department of Education tools and resources available to support native language and heritage retention.
