Well everyone, it's official. As of today, January 4th, 2026, the base fare on subways and local busses have increased from $2.90 to $3.00.
I myself am not a fan of this because there may be more cars on the streets.
Let me know in the comments of what you think of the new fares.
Anyways, in this video. I decided to do a bit of a test journey with me paying the new base fare for the first (and possibly the last) time with a MetroCard as seen at 0:15, I do apologize if you couldn't read what it said but it said $3.00. And then as seen in the video, I took a ride on the {7} train from Grand Central to Court Square in R188 car #7925. Now, I didn't record me exiting Court Square after I filmed the train leaving, that was because I was going to be heading back to Manhattan after I got off so that's why you don't see me exiting the Court Square Station at the end of the video.
Note: I filmed this on the same day I rode the Holiday Nostalgia Train which I have a video on as well.
