If your car overheats in traffic or at low speeds but stays normal on highways, the most common reason is poor airflow through the radiator.
While it could be a bad radiator or cooling fan, this can also happen if the radiator opening is covered by a number plate or badge.
Hot coolant from the engine passes through the radiator and passing air from the front cools it down, so if the air can't pass through properly, the coolant will stay hot, and the engine will overheat.
Since the AC condenser is mounted in front of the radiator, poor airflow will also affect AC cooling.
