In that brief yet eternity-shifting conversation he had with Jesus on the cross, a dying man encountered a love far greater than his failures and dared to believe that mercy was meant even for him.

It opens with the thief recognising Jesus’ holiness and his own brokenness. He has nothing to offer except the surrender of his life, yet he longs to be with the One hanging beside him. Chorus 1 holds that tension: a hesitant hope, a reaching for mercy he knows he does not deserve.

The bridge captures his desperate cry, “Lord, remember me, hanging here beside Thee.” It is the raw confession of a sinner who knows he should have died, yet still calls upon the King of Heaven for rescue.

In Chorus 2 the revelation breaks through. With one look from Jesus he discovers freedom. With one encounter belief rises.
