What is premature birth?
Baby is born before the 37th week of pregnancy, which is about three weeks earlier than the full-term due date of 40 weeks. These babies may face health complications because their organs, such as the lungs, brain, and liver, may not have finished developing. The term "preemie" is also used to refer to a baby born prematurely. 👶🏻
Categories of premature birth
🔸Late preterm: Born between 34 and 36 weeks
🔸Moderately preterm: Born between 32 and 34 weeks
🔸Very preterm: Born between 28 and 32 weeks
🔸Extremely preterm: Born before 28 weeks
