Our governor and many elected officials have failed on the environment over and over: building a detention center in the Everglades, trying to develop the state parks, failing to address flooding and toxins, allowing energy rates to skyrocket, and stripping local governments of their ability to protect rural and conservation lands. Floridians have taken notice and want change. The time is NOW to elect environmental candidates!

This webinar will:

Introduce the Democratic Environmental Caucus

Include a welcome and statements from Nikki Fried, Florida Democratic Party Chair, and Michelle Deatrick, Chair of the DNC Environmental and Climate Crisis Council.

Share the DECF strategy for the 2026 campaign and how we will work together, statewide, to elect strong environmental candidates.

David will also give an overview of County Commission: how it works and how it interacts with City of Tallahassee.

St. John County DECF Chapter: Join Their Next In-Person Or Virtual Meeting:
Thursday, February 5th,6:30pm at the St. Johns Dems office, 71 S. Dixie Highway, St. Augustine.
The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the information from the February 1st Webinar, and discuss events we can have to help elect environmental Democrats in local, statewide and national elections,as well as suggestions for other events and activities in 2026. If you cannot view the Feb. 1st Webinar, you can still attend the Feb. 5th Chapter meeting and share your views. We are fortunate to have as a guest Matt Brown, who is serving his third term as a Commissioner on the Port, Waterway and Beach District, and is currently a candidate for the City of St. Augustine Commission. Matt will share his experiences as a candidate, and we will ask him how we can help him in his campaign for a seat on the City Commission.

This event is the kickoff meeting to start a chapter of the Florida Democratic Environmental Caucus in Brevard County. The purpose of the event is to elect leadership, adopt bylaws, agree to goals and objectives and establish a meeting rhythm.
All Democrats are welcome, however, you must be a member of the state environmental caucus in order to vote.
