Workers are using high-pressure hoses to perform a process called hydraulic mining, where they strip away soil from the ground. Powerful pumps spray water to wash down earth from the slopes.
The purpose of this work is to extract valuable minerals, such as gold, from the loosened soil. The muddy water flows to a collection area where heavier metals settle and are then separated.
However, the ground is unstable, making this a dangerous task.
