Dear God, Help Me Forgive – A Prayer for Releasing Bitterness and Finding Peace.

I come before You today with a heart burdened by the weight of unforgiveness.
Lord, You know my struggles and the pain I carry.
You see the wounds that I’ve held onto for far too long.
Today, I ask You for the strength to release this bitterness and find true peace in You.

Father, I acknowledge that forgiveness is not always easy,
but I also know that You have called me to forgive as You have forgiven me.
Your Word says, "Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ, God forgave you" (Ephesians 4:32).
Help me, Lord, to walk in obedience to Your Word, even when it’s hard.

I confess that I have been holding onto anger, resentment, and hurt.
These emotions have built walls around my heart, making it difficult for me to truly experience the freedom You offer.
Lord, I no longer want to carry this burden.
I want to be free from the chains of unforgiveness.
Please, soften my heart and give me the grace to forgive those who have hurt me, just as You have forgiven me countless times.

Lord, I ask for Your help in healing the wounds that have caused this bitterness.
Heal the pain, the disappointment, and the sorrow.
I trust that You are the ultimate healer of hearts, and I lay my pain at Your feet, knowing that You will restore me.
Your Word promises, "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds" (Psalm 147:3).
I believe in this promise, Lord, and I ask for Your healing power to work in me.

Father, I pray not only for myself but also for those who have wronged me.
I lift them up to You, asking for Your mercy and grace over their lives.
I ask You to bless them, Lord, and help me to release any desire for revenge or bitterness.
Replace those feelings with love and compassion, just as You’ve shown me.
Help me to see them through Your eyes, with a heart that seeks reconciliation and peace.

Lord, I understand that forgiveness doesn’t always mean forgetting, but it does mean releasing the power that the hurt holds over me.
It means choosing to let go of the past and entrusting the situation to You, the just and righteous Judge.
Help me to walk in the freedom that comes with forgiveness, free from the weight of bitterness and anger.

Thank You, Father, for the peace that You offer when I choose to forgive.
I trust in Your perfect will, and I know that by letting go of this hurt, I am making room for more of Your love and joy in my life.
I am ready to receive the peace that surpasses all understanding, the peace that only You can give.
