US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has expressed hopes that the Iranian people could overthrow their government admist the ongoing U.S and Israeli war against Iran.
This as the United Nations continues to warn that the risk of a humanitarian fallout in the region was also growing fast, particularly the number of civilians being killed and the destruction of civilian infrastructure.
Iran has threatened to attack any ships seeking to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, a move that could choke a fifth of the global oil flows and likely send the price of crude oil skyrocketing - affecting energy costs around the world.
Rubio was speaking to reporters after a closed-door briefing with U.S. lawmakers in Washington yesterday.
