Third video from the poll...this one's from 2022. It's so interesting to compare Encanto to Raya, which both came out the same year. Both have large ensemble casts, both demonstrate Disney's efforts to diversify beyond European folklore, both center themes of family and reconciliation, and both are so, so very different in terms of how successfully they achieve the aforementioned goals. Who would've thought that not attempting to mimic the MCU would drastically improve the quality of a movie 🙃

I tried really really hard to get custom stylized subs for this one, since I've seen that on YT before, with a nice font and drop shadow and everything, I even downloaded Adobe Premiere for it...but no dice. If anyone has any clue how it's done LMK I'm very curious

Anyway I didn't even know this band is Colombian until after I finished this video so that was a nice surprise!

Also, where were you when you first realized Mirabel's motif is a butterfly? For me it was while editing this and let me tell you I had Feelings about it

Actually the whole process of editing this got me to tear up a couple of times...I had a thought of the house's soul actually being Pedro himself. Definitely undermines the movie as a whole, but still cute, and I ran with it for this video.
