Varnishing time! Little oil painting: Autumn Greetings on a Mirror

This is a little oil painting I did last November. I can varnish it now and I am varnishing it with satin varnish. I don’t find glossy (too glossy for my taste) nor matte (too dull to my taste) quite right for me, therefore I choose the middle path. I will put two layers to it, then I will call it done. Thinking of maybe framing it later. Why not? The little fellow birb deserves it, I think!😊
As you can see, the surface it was on was too slippery. Please don’t do the same mistake as I did. I should have put something less slippery (such as styrofoam or something similar) beneath the oil painting while varnishing it. I constantly had to hold it in place and it was very bothersome. Btw, is varnishing outdoors a good idea? It did its job, therefore it’s fine?
