Crazy mesmerizing pieces of kinetic art! I have way too much passion for these little devices lol. It's a marble contraption similar to a Rube Goldberg machine, but 3D printed so it can be distributed en masse in order to be accessible for more people (increasing the total net utility of said machines within the broader world :). I put a lot of design work, iteration, testing, and refining into each one, and I'm very happy with how they've turned out. I've been inspired by various sources; LEGO GBCs, K'nex ball machines, Gravitrax, wooden marble machines, rolling ball contraptions, computer simulations, and more; I've tried to combine the best aspects of all of them into something I'm proud of.
If you're interested in seeing all my machines, and even some new ones, you can find them here: https://elegantmachines.etsy.com
I've also released a couple for free, check them out here: https://makerworld.com/en/@elegantmar...
This was also my maker portfolio for the MIT application. I was accepted EA, class of 2028. Nowadays, I run a makerspace in my dorm at MIT where I continue to design these and help other people build what they want to! I'm majoring in CS (6-4), but mechanical engineering is very tempting, I'll adMIT.
One small technical note: the video says each machine has to cycle 5,000 marbles with no mistakes to be considered "good", but I've since raised my standards to cycling 30,000 marbles. No, of course I'm not a perfectionist :)
