Ljubljana is widely recognized as one of Europe's greenest cities, having been declared the European Green Capital in 2016. The dragon is the enduring symbol of Ljubljana, deeply embedded in its mythology (legend says the Greek hero Jason slew a dragon in the marshes here) and prominently featured on the iconic Dragon Bridge. Despite being a capital city, Ljubljana retains a small-town friendliness. Its compact size makes it easily explorable on foot or by bicycle.
