Описание: Concerto in do magg per mandolino e orchestra, RV 425 by Antonio Vivaldi performed by the Dutch Mandolin Chamber Orchestra HET CONSORT with Ferdinand Binnendijk als the mandolin soloist conducted by Alex Timmerman. The video was made in the Doopgezinde Church in Steenwijk on the 16th of june 2018.

For this recording we have chosen to perform the 'CONCERTO per Mandolino, Archi e Cembalo' on modern plucked instruments; the string orchestra, playing pizzicato throughout the entire concerto, is replaced by a pizzicato playing modern Roman mandolin orchestra, while the soloist is playing on a 6-string Mandolino Lombardo. This modern gut-strung mandolin kind is the rightfully justified descendant of the Mandolino for which Antonio Vivaldi wrote his wonderful mandolin music.

Our soloist, Ferdinand Binnendijk, plays his gut-strung Mandolino Lombardo in the original manner; with a plectrum made from the wood of the cherry tree.

To be even more true to our idea of playing the music on modern plucked instruments, the Cembalo/Violoncello part is performed on the 12-string Chitarra-Arpa by our 1st guitarist Tom Edskes, while a Chitarrone moderno is used instead of the Double Bass of a string orchestra.
Indeed, all plucked instruments developed around 1900.
