Despite NC 12 on Hatteras Island’s reopening, NC 12 on Ocracoke Island’s north side will remain closed Sunday, according to the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT).
The agency’s representatives noticed ocean over wash Saturday night, which led to a breach in the area’s repaired dunes. They also found the road to be undermined in one location Sunday morning.
