Voiceover Script wih Gaelic translations:
Katrina (Gaelic): We’re looking for a teacher to open a new Gaelic unit here in Lochaline primary
school.
As a parent council/as parents we have requested Gaelic Medium Education. Some of us are Gaelic speakers…
James: And some of us don’t. But we all recognise the opportunities for our kids growing up bilingual and connected to the gaelic culture.
So, could this be the opportunity for you?
Katrina: We are a small school, small but perfectly formed.
James: We currently have 8 pupils in the school and 8 in the nursery.
Kids:
Let’s show you around.
Katrina (Gaelic): What’s it like to work at Lochaline Primary School?
Katrina (Gaelic): Gaelic is already a part of school life.
James: Pupils from the school regularly compete in the mod
Katrina (in Gaelic): and we recently welcomed our Gaelic Medium Education Early Years Practitioner, Layla, who is
introducing the nursery to the language.
James: So where exactly is Lochaline and what’s it like to live here?
Katrina: The village of Lochaline is here, on the Morvern Peninsula off the Sound of Mull. Morvern is home to around three hundred and twenty people.
James: We’re well connected, Fort William is around an hour away and offers a cinema, cafes,
restaurants and a big supermarket.
Kids: The super market’s an hour away?!?
James: Yeah but don’t worry - they deliver regularly (and the village shop is always well stocked).
Katrina (Gaelic): The Isle of Mull is just 18 minutes away on the Ferry and has loads to offer.
James: And there’s a lot going on in this wee community of ours.
Katrina (Gaelic): Here’s an overview
James: And there’s some pretty stunning scenery to explore on foot, by bike or even raft!
Kids: Village Hall!
Katrina (Gaelic): The heart of our village is the Village hall which hosts everything from yoga to
badminton, kids gymnastics, community cafes, school pantomimes, burach gaelic choir and
croileachan
James: not to mention the odd ceilidh, concert or gig.
Katrina (Gaelic): Then there’s Games and Gala Week,
James: the highlight of the year, featuring Scotland’s most scenic games field.
Heather: So, what’s your favourite thing about Lochaline Primary School?
Conclusion video.
So if you are looking to build something new and exciting and become part of a vibrant, close knit
community where there’s loads going on,
Katrina (Gaelic): apply to be our Gaelic teacher now.
