Описание: The Veligonda Project has a remarkable journey spanning nearly three decades. From its early proposal during the NTR era to the foundation stone laid by Nara Chandrababu Naidu in 1996, the project has gone through years of surveys, approvals and construction. The project was envisioned to address the long-standing drought and drinking water problems in the western regions of the erstwhile Prakasam district. The plan involved bringing water from the Srisailam Reservoir through the Nallamala hills. The Detailed Project Report (DPR) was prepared in 1994, followed by the foundation stone ceremony on March 5, 1996. Subsequent years saw environmental clearances, engineering studies and early construction works, including foundation excavation at the Sunkesula Gap in 1999. Now, in 2026, the Veligonda Project is reaching a major milestone.
