In this video, I’ll review this Inflight TACA A320 in 10 categories.
This very rare Inflight model was commissioned by a Latin American distributor. So, it doesn’t use the standard Inflight packaging design. With such a good protection foam, I'll give an 8.
This TACA comes with magnetic gear and a standard display stand. The plane has a very nice flight angle for display. The nose gear door covers are perfectly made. But the main gear door covers are oversized. They don’t fit the slots. So, it’s rather easy to fall off and go missing. Therefore, I'll only give a 7.
The shape of Inflight’s A320 nose is always better than JC’s and Gemini’s. Yet, the shape of the forehead lacks the iconic edge on both sides around the cockpit. It’s too round. The shape of the wings and of the winglets are good and realistic. The horizontal stabilizer is also better than those of JC’s and Gemini’s. I’ll give an 8.
This pair of IAE V2527E-A5 engines is not bad at all. But the fan blades cannot rotate. This is a common issue of all A320 family models of this generation. The fan blades’ shape is definitely not close to the real thing enough. In our another video about J Fox’s SAS A319, I’ve shown you its port side’s pylon angle is a bit higher than what it should be. This revised Inflight engine has no such issue at all. Both engines are very well aligned. I’ll give an 8.
I'm happy with the build. The wings and the horizontal stabilizers are very well attached. The engines' ground clearance is good. The gap at the vertical stabilizer attachment is acceptable. I'll give a 9 for build.
Now, let’s talk about the obvious flaw of this model. You’ll see it clearly when we put it side by side with this WB’s Dragonair A320. This Dragonair comes with the correct undercarriage. You see, WB manages to capture the unique feature of the A320 family's landing gears, which is that all 3 gear legs do not stand 90 degrees vertically. In fact, the nose gear angles forward slightly, whereas the main gears angle slightly backward. Obviously, this TACA A320 fails to correctly present the landing gear. So, I’ll only give a 7.
For details, all the lights, antennas, SATCOM are presented very well. The APU exhaust is very detailed and is way better than JC’s and Gemini’s. Yet the nose gear leg doesn’t have the landing lights. I’ll give details an 8.
This TACA livery is very impressive. All the logos and titles are precisely made. Inflight has paid attention to all small details. So, it hasn’t missed this taca.com title on the engine here. The stylish parrot logo is very well made. I’ll say it deserves a 10 for livery!
The painting quality of this model is a little better than JC’s and Gemini’s in general. You can’t find discrepancies like double printing. TACA’s unique burgundy colour is accurately reproduced here. The white paint applied here is very sharp. I’ll give a 9.
This limited edition for the Latin American market is very rare. We all know this short-lived TACA livery came to an end shortly after its launch when it was taken by Avianca. The number of TACA fans around the world should be rather limited. So, I think the chance for a new release will be very low. For that, I’ll give value a 9.
I’ll give this Inflight A320 a total of 83 points in my ARAIG Index.
