China-Algeria space cooperation: Long March-2C launched AlSat-3A satellite

A Long March-2C rocket carrying the AlSat-3A remote sensing satellite lifted off at 12:01 p.m. Beijing time on January 15 from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China. The satellite successfully entered its predetermined orbit.
The mission marked the 85th flight of the Long March-2C launch vehicle and the 626th launch of the Long March rocket family.
The AlSat-3 Remote Sensing System program includes two optical remote sensing satellites for the Algerian Space Agency, along with a ground system, training, and related support services. In July 2023, China Great Wall Industry Corporation and the Algerian Space Agency signed an agreement to jointly develop the program.
The system is primarily designed to support land-use planning and enhance disaster prevention and mitigation capabilities in Algeria. The launch represents another major space cooperation milestone between China and Algeria, following the successful delivery of the Alcomsat-1 system, and reflects deepening collaboration under the Belt and Road Initiative.
