Zhāquánmén 查拳门 is a traditional Chinese Martial Arts system. It is characterised as a traditional long-fist style and originated in the Province of Shāndōng 山东 in the north east of China.
The System includes five sub-styles, named zhā查, huá滑, pào炮, hóng洪, and tuǐ腿, and has 3 basic forms named 10 forms of tántuǐ十路弹腿, 10 forms of dǎochuí十路捣捶and 10 forms of huáchāo十路滑抄, and 21 advanced forms of boxing.
The system also uses weapons such as sabre dāo刀, sword jiàn剑, spear qiāng枪, cudgel gùn棍, long-bladed short hilted sabre pǔdāo朴刀, heavy scimitar dàdāo大刀, zha hooks zhāgōu 查钩 and short horse sticks lán mǎ jué 拦马橛. These are the "eight big tools" bā dà jiàn八大 件.
In the Qing 清Dynasty (1644-1911), the original system was divided into three main schools, named Zhàng school 张氏, Yáng school 杨氏 and Lǐ school李氏. Today we also have the Hénán Style河南式, the Běijīng Style北京式and the Cháng Style 常式. All the styles differ in the implementation, composition of forms, focus of technique and content of the style, but at the core, they are all the same -- traditional long-fist!
