Описание:
This piece was entirely created by motion-tracking figure skating movement using an M5StickC PLUS2, attached to the laces of my skating boot. Both the accelerometer and gyrometer were used to capture motion data.
💻 Software & Sound Processing:
Martin Ritter & Jeffrey E. Boyd developed software to collect and format the motion data for use in Max/MSP.
I transformed this data into MIDI signals, which were played back on a Viscount E-Organ.
Every sound in this piece was generated directly from my skating movements.
🎥 Editing & Performance:
The overall length was determined by a continuous video recording of me skating. However, sections were edited and overlaid both for artistic reasons and to ensure privacy, as this was filmed in a public rink.
⛸️ About My Skating:
I am not a professional figure skater—I trained seriously as a child but returned to the ice this year after a 25-year break. This project is part of my journey to reconnect with skating and explore its artistic and musical possibilities.
