Renault Koleos Dynamique 2.5 CVT 4x4 Review - Distinctly French, Distinctly Bold!

Описание: Entering the modern family SUV segment takes some courage, or “koleos” as the Latin could describe, thankfully Renault seem to have designed a luxurious family SUV which is distinctly bold and stylish, feature-packed and offered at a competitive price, meet the new 2019 Koleos.

What is it?

Sharing its underpinnings with the Nissan X-Trail, the Koleos represents French automaker Renault’s attempt at a larger luxury SUV. Here is South Africa, the line-up is rather simple, there is one available engine, namely the 2.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol driven motor and one type of transmission, namely a continually variable transmission (CVT). Two trim levels are available and it can be had in 4x2 or 4x4, but apart from this its rather simple to wrap your head around.

Its spacious, its stylish and its comfortable, it features many design cues from the latest Renault Megané, and overall I rather like it!

The Drive

The 2.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol driven motor develops a healthy 126 kW and 233 Nm of torque. Power is sent through its CVT, but thankfully, even though I don’t generally like CVT’s this one manages well overall, delivering a smooth, competent drive. During my week of testing I averaged an acceptable combined 9.2-litres/100 km in terms of economy.

The overall cabin is spacious, with the Koleos offering-up a luggage load area of 464-litres with the seats folded-upright, an impressive amount even within its segment.

Media, Tech & Style

Large imposing daytime-running-lights adorn its front fascia, which at the rear, its long taillights are unmistakable.

The interior features Renault’s very up-to-date new style layout, with this range-topping Dynamique model having a large “tablet orientated” central media display. All major media sources are supported, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A wealth of driver assistance and modern safety features are also on offer. Airbags feature throughout the cabin, and both the Expression and Dynamique model trim levels come with ABS anti-lock brakes and Electronic Stability Control with Hill Start Assist. This the Dynamique goes one step further and adds Blind Sport Warning and a Tyre Pressure monitor.

Overall

The Koleos picks up from Renault’s Kadjar SUV, and even despite the highly competitive market segment in which it sits, the Koleos offers its own unique style, charm and impressive features all at an impressive price point.

Sold with a 5-year / 150 000 km mechanical warranty, 6-year anti-corrosion warranty, 5-year / 90 000 km service plan.
