I Shouldn’t Have Fished Jump Rock in These Conditions… (Crazy Waves!)

Описание: Rock fishing at Jump Rock in Victoria in some of the roughest conditions I’ve experienced! This surf fishing session turned into a real challenge as the swell, wind and tide did not match the weather forecast.

I arrived at Jump Rock before sunrise to target Australian salmon and pinky snapper from the rock platform. At first light, both lines were in the water and the action started immediately. Within the first hour, I landed multiple salmon while fishing in heavy swell.

As the session continued, large wave sets (8–9 waves per set) began washing over the platform. Fishing between wave sets became extremely difficult, and staying dry was impossible. This is real land-based rock fishing in tough Australian conditions.

Just when I was about to pack up due to the dangerous swell, a quality pinky snapper smashed my bait and saved the session. After battling strong waves and unpredictable conditions, that fish made the whole trip worth it.
