Helping marine animals in distress is an important skill for our fishery officers to learn!
Last fall, fishery officers from the Gulf Region along with members of Parks Canada and Atlantic Veterinary College participated in a Marine Animal Medic Training session provided by the Marine Animal Response Society.
They braved the cold waters of the Prince Edward Island National Park to practice techniques and procedures in the event of a stranded marine animal.
Our officers and partners are highly trained in these situations, and are the only ones allowed to handle marine animals in distress.
