Almost everyone knows that cells make up pretty much every living organism on our planet, but what they do not know is its full potential. By changing DNA of the living organism, the cell can do so many more different tasks, potentially solving so many of our modern society's problems, and now, this technology is democratized to everyone, and is ready for use. So what are we waiting for?
Sung-Joon "Miles" Yun was one of the couple dozen high school students to compete in the 2015 International Genetically Engineered Machine Competition and would like other high school students and adults to join him in his endeavor into the field of synthetic biology. He has spent over five hundred hours working on changing the DNA in cells to produce efficient biofuels. However, this is not the only way synthetic biology can be used to help our world, and Miles stresses how important it is that we use this amazing tool that is now readily available for us to start tackling the world's problems that we struggle through in our daily lives.
