Budget Defence: Senate Suspends Session Of Oagf 24 Hours To Deadline

Описание: The Senate has postponed the 2025 budget defence for the Office of the Auditor General, risking a lack of funding. The Senate had set January 22, 2025, as the deadline for budget defences to allow the Appropriation Committee to consolidate reports. Senator Ahmed Wadada, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Public Accounts, dismissed Auditor General S.K. Chira and his team for being unprepared and poorly managing their documentation. Chira could not answer questions about the 2024 budget performance, and discrepancies between the budget documents he referenced and those provided to the committee heightened tensions. Wadada stated that it is now the Auditor General's responsibility to prepare adequately and return, even within the next two hours, to meet the Wednesday deadline.
