The corridor features two grand gateways - Nandi Dwar and Pinaki Dwar leading to a visitor plaza capable of accommodating up to 20,000 pilgrims at a time. The plaza is surrounded by a lotus pond and showcases a statue of Lord Shiva, complemented by fountains and landscaped areas.Architecturally, the corridor is adorned with 108 intricately carved sandstone pillars, each topped with a trishul design & 93 statues depicting various forms and stories of Lord Shiva. The walls are embellished with 53 illuminated murals illustrating scenes from the Shiva Purana, such as the Act of Creation, the Birth of Ganesha, and the Story of Sati and Daksha. Crafted by artisans from Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Odisha, these elements blend traditional craftsmanship with modern amenities, including surveillance systems and AI powered monitoring for enhanced security. The Mahakal Lok Corridor is expected to significantly boost Ujjain's tourism, potentially doubling the annual footfall from 1.5 crore to nearly 3 crore visitors. This development not only preserves the city's rich heritage but also provides a serene and immersive environment for spiritual reflection and cultural appreciation.
