In our advocacy work within the Giving for Change Programme in Busia County, we collaborated closely with Dhamira Moja CBO, the anchor organisation of the Community of Practice (COP) to propel development in the region.
This member-driven body brings together Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) across the county to engage in collaborative discussions, share insights, and strategise on development initiatives aimed at driving community advancement.
Through collective efforts, the COP works to address local challenges, identify sustainable solutions, and enhance the impact of CSOs within the communities they serve.
The Busia Community of Practice (COP), anchored by DHAMIRA MOJA CBO, with the support of KCDF and Wilde Ganzen has made notable progress since its launch in April 2023, with 69 member organisations actively engaged.
Key achievements include training 15 organisations on budget advocacy, leading to influential memos on the County Fiscal Strategy Paper and Budget Estimates, which resulted in significant changes by the county government.
These efforts have empowered local organisations to drive community engagement in critical policy discussions, such as the Gender Policy, Child Protection Policy, and Disaster Management Act.
