Footage has shown armed militias firing heavy machine guns in Iran’s capital of Tehran.
The heavily armed militias were deployed across Tehran’s streets, seen in armoured pickups and Toyotas.
Masked fighters patrolled the streets, with footage showing gunfire erupting and dozens of trucks deployed to protect government buildings, state media sites and major intersections.
The armed militias taking to the streets in Tehran follow weeks of protests from the Iranian people, protesting the country’s regime.
Iranian authorities have said 3,117 people were killed during protests; however, many claim the death toll is higher.
