INCH INTO FOOT METHOD

HOW TO MEASURE THE HEIGHT OF A TREE WITH A STAVE ?
We need 5 FEET length one stave and mark on the stave with complete 5 feet i.e. 60 inches measurement for ease of counting and calculating measurements.

THINGS NEEDED :
1. Measuring Tape
2. Stave - 5 Feet Length
3. A Scout Friend

PROCEDURE :

.1. Take a 5 FEET length stick/stave and walk away from the tree measuring
up to 11 times on the ground & mark it and keep a scout stand with the
stave.
2. Measure 12th time with the stick and mark the spot.
3. Lay down on 12th marking spot at the ground. Open one eye that lies
touching the ground on 12th mark position and close the other eye.
4. Ask your scout friend to move her finger UPWARD or DOWNWARD the
stick to align the tip point of the tree.
5. Ask your scout friend to stop her finger when your eye, finger point and
the tree top is in perfectly aligned straight.
6. Measure the finger stop point at the stick from the base of the stick and
the number of inches is equal to the number of feet that is the height of
tree.

Total Measurement 24 Inches
Total Tree Height 24 Feet

NOTE : Total Inches is Total Feet, the Height of the Tree.
