Luna and I took to the beach in Kalaloch to enjoy a sunset stroll. l've been captivated by these massive pieces of driftwood-some of them easily 100 feet long-that have washed up in this vast, debris-filled stretch of the beach. This evening, we got to walk through a large concentration of this gargantuan driftwood on our way to the Tree of Life. I love imagining all these pieces of wood as bones from some giant, mythical creature.
Kalaloch (pronounced "clay-lock") is an unincorporated resort area on the Olympic Peninsula in Jefferson County, Washington. It's renowned for its rugged coastline, driftwood-strewn beaches, and lush temperate rainforests. The name derives from the Quinault word k'-E-le-ok, meaning "a good place to land" or "sheltered landing"
