THE STORY:
Written by Even Stevens and Mentor Williams (who also wrote "Drift Away"), this song captures that bittersweet state of emotional limbo. You've done the healing, put the relationship behind you - then something triggers a memory and suddenly you realize you're still carrying it. Dan Seals brought his trademark vocal style to the song - smooth as honey but with an ache underneath. His phrasing was impeccable, never pushing too hard, letting the melody and lyrics do the heavy lifting.
